The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) suspended the implementation of the rules on elections will speed up the union.
On Monday, U.s. District Judge James Boasberg struck down regulations. In his decision, the judge said the Labor Council has only two members vote on the rules of the end of December 2011 when it takes three members to form a quorum.
“We continue to believe that the amendments represent a significant increase in our process and serve the public interest by eliminating unnecessary litigation,” said Chairman of the NLRB Mark Pearce. “We are determined to move forward.”
“We think the judge’s verdict is flat-out wrong,” says the AFL-CIO’s work General Counsel Lynn Rhinehart in a blog post Monday. “The judge’s ruling, while in our view wrong, is solely based on the technical issues with the procedure of the Council speaking and not the rule itself.
In turn, the business groups, which had sued to stop the rules, was happy with the judge’s decision.
